“Away from home , yet so close to our roots ……thanks
to BHC”
“It was a great day day , enjoyed a lot ….thanks to
BHC”
“Darun katlo din ta …..Thanks to BHC”
“A Sunday lit up with beautiful pictures and people
….thanks to BHC”
These were few of those comments and compliments
showered in abundance by those 100-plus people, who visited Acube Inn Farmhouse
on Sunday 11th January, 2026. Not only were their faces lit up with endorphin
serotonin and dopamine, but also their mental energy uplifted and mind
recharged for a long time.
11th January 2026, Bengalis and Hyderabad Collective (BHC) arranged their first annual picnic at Acube Inn Farmhouse, Moinabad. To describe Acube Inn Farmhouse, well, let me you that, it is a huge property just at the outskirts of Hyderabad. The main building has 2 bedrooms on the ground floor and 2 on the top floor. The drawing room is attached with a toilet and kitchen and on the top floor, there is a huge balcony. The place has a pool and kids’ playground also along with a rain dance area.

Since the formation of the BHC group in early 2025, the
members had been planning and organising various events and it has been
observed that with the passage of time, the no. of people turning up for these
events was increasing and so was the growth of the community (a group of jovial,
adventurous, and enthusiastic people whose roots are in Bengal). Undoubtedly
this event was supposed to be the biggest one since their culmination and
everyone was waiting eagerly for this picnic. So, with more than a month’s planning,
the organisers of the BHC team marketed their event through Facebook, WhatsApp,
and Instagram. As a result of which, more than 100 people turned up for the
picnic and it did not commence just as an event, it turned out to be a one-day
festival.
To reach the picnic spot, most of the participants used their own vehicles or arranged their own transport. But some of them including I, could not arrange our own transport and the organiser took the pain to arrange a bus for around 22 people at a very budget friendly per head cost. The bus journey was fun filled and people started to sing and dance in the bus at Bollywood numbers and some even engaged themselves at playing cards while some engaged in casual chatting or watching the roadside landscape.
10 a.m. was the designated time to reach the picnic spot with a 15 mins buffer and as expected, the organisers had already reached early so that breakfast could be served by 10.30. The highly revered Bengali breakfast of Luchi was served with Ghugni(aloo matar) and Bonde(sweet boondi). People enthusiastically volunteered to serve the breakfast while some started arranging one of the playgrounds for cricket. Soon after breakfast followed by tea, there was a small introductory event where using a microphone, the organiser made everybody introduce themselves briefly in an orderly manner and lunch coupons were handed over to each member. The introduction activity was comical as jokes were being cracked from the audience side and even the organisers were having a jovial attitude. And that is how the one-day festivity began with people light in heart and a spring in their step dispersed into the vast farmhouse to enjoy the BHC annual picnic of 2026. The event was sponsored by EAST COAST (The Essence of Bengal) which a grocery, green grocery, fish meat, and essentials delivery partner.
A group of people also sat under the shade and started
playing cards while a group went inside the farmhouse to play uno. There were
three playgrounds each of which was engaged in cricket , badminton and football.
The larger playground where football was being played also had slides, swings,
and seesaws. The most attractive part of the farmhouse was the swimming pool
which was having chlorinated water and despite being a winter, many did not
hesitate to jump into it to swim, play water polo or merely just fool around in
it. Amidst these activities, people also indulged in having some early starters
of coriander leaves Pakodis before lunch.

The entire catering was done by Animesh Caterers, a well-known
group in Hyderabad for arranging events organised by Bengali communities. Well,
commenting on the food, let me enlighten you with the fact that the entire
cooking was done on spot in open air by thakurs (Bengali cooks for large scale
events). Regarding menu, I will opine that it was very well researched and well
customised to suit the stomach as well as the palate. The lunch which was
served from 1.30 p.m. comprised of
Beguni
Jhuri
Aloo Bhaja
Kacha
Moonger Dal
Aloo
Fulkopir Torkari
Katla
macher Kalia
Basmati
Rice
Chicken
Kosha/ Paneer Masala
Chutney
Papad
Rosogolla

It was revisiting our roots through the original Bangali food and the taste was noticeably good satisfying the entire crowd. Worth mentioning is the part that the quantity of the food prepared was so well measured that there were no shortage and the mouthwatering soul satisfying taste of the food led to no wastage also. After that incredibly sumptuous meal, people laid back for a while except for the little zealots who took to the kids playground.

It was almost 3.30 p.m. and finally time for some Insta and Facebook reels and group photos and selfies whilst welcoming the lazy evening. A group of people also ventured into the nearby village where a small hike will take you through the paddy fields, to a nearby temple and a small canal used for irrigation. Rest of the group stayed inside the farm engaging in various activities singing dancing and the signature adda of the Bengalis continued.

The organisers of the BHC team for this picnic had well thought of for a small token of appreciation for participation, as a cute fridge magnet with BHC logo on it.
Time flew by and it was almost approaching sunset when everyone gathered in a huge circle for group songs. With Guitar Kahon Dafli as instruments, it was time to become engrossed into soulful melodies of Hindi and Bangla gaan. Evening snacks of Coffee and Onion fritters were served during that short jamming session.
Last but not the least is the mentioning of the teams and partners who made this event an incredible success .
- East Coast (The Essence of Bengal) – Associate sponsor of the event
- Animesh Das (Ph: 70936 17858) Caterers – Food provider for the event

It was a common feeling with the sunset that we don’t want to go home, but we must because tomorrow we need to get back to work. Then, it was called a day, and not without a smile on each face, spring in each step and a light heart, after everyone waved to each other before thanking the organisers for this meticulously well-planned picnic. The greatest takeaway of this event was feeling of a home away from home. Many new friends were made, many new memories were created and the soul was revived with good food, adda, games, activities, singing amidst the surreal beauty of nature in the magnanimous Farmhouse ACube Inn. The hospitable group of BHC team did a fabulous job of bringing such a huge group of people together and enlivening their spirits in such a geographically large city as Hyderabad. Statistically lot of people whose roots are in Bengal reside in Hyderabad, but the annual picnic of Bengalis and Hyderabad Collective (BHC) exhibited that fact and this is just the beginning of a legacy.
